YWAM Neighbor is located in Akosombo, Ghana, within two beautiful scenery fishing villages close to the Volta Lake, which is the biggest artificial lake in the world. It's about three hours drive from Accra airport and about ten minutes to the lake.
This is a five-month program blending learning, small group activities, personal reflection, practical service and community living. It includes a lecture phase focused on knowing God, His word and world, and an outreach phase where students serve in targeted areas using African arts and community development to share the Gospel.
We have dormitories, single rooms, and couple rooms available. Food is served three times daily and includes both local Ghanaian dishes (made from corn, yams, plantains, local vegetables, served with chicken, fish and eggs) and continental food (spaghetti, rice, potatoes, bread and salads served with chicken, eggs and sausages).
We offer three main programs: 1) TRAININGS including the Discipleship Training School and specialized tracks in African arts and community development, 2) EVANGELISM through outreach programs, and 3) MERCY MINISTRIES including community development programs, small loans to single mothers and widows, sharing food and clothes, and caring for sick poor children and orphans.
You can get involved by: joining our Discipleship Training School, participating in our Apprenticeship in African Kitchen and Dishes program, volunteering with our building programs using environmentally friendly materials, serving as a missionary, or supporting us through fundraising. We welcome volunteers, missionaries, and supporters.
